Morph Shape with Curve |
Edit > Shape (Part Level)
Shape Tooltab (Part Level)
This command is similar to the
Morph Shape at Point command. It also transforms (morphs) a shape by warping face geometry. This command however, allows you to grab a curve on a model or a datum plane that cuts through a model. The surfaces near the curve or plane are dragged just as surfaces near a point are.

Translate along Direction |

Translate to Point |

Translate along Path |

Translate about Axis |

Uniform Scale about Point |

Non-Uniform Scale about Point |
-
Geometry
All of the
Morph Shape commands require you to select
Geometry to morph. You can select a
Shape,
Face,
3D Curve,
Parting Line,
3D Point or a
3D Block. If a face is selected, its edges are automatically Locked. See
Optional Inputs below for more about
Move and
Lock options.
-
Curve
This is the curve that you will morph. It should be located on the shape that is being morphed.
-
Direction
Specify the drag direction.
-
Direction
Specify the drag direction.
-
From, To point
These are the beginning and ending points where the curve will move.
-
Path
For the
Translate along Path method, select the path the morph will take.
-
Axis, Angle
For the
Rotate about an Axis method, select the axis and specify the angle that the morph will take.
-
Center, Scale
For the
Scale about Point method, select the center point about which to morph.
-
Scale Plane, XYZ Scale
For the
Non-Uniform Scale about Point method, specify the plane about which the scaling will take place as well as the X, Y and Z scale factors.
Optional Inputs
-
Move, Lock
On the Move tab, you define the Geometry that will move and the parameters that affect how much nearby geometry will move (these are the transition parameters). You can use the Geometry option to change the geometry to move.
On the Lock tab, you define the Stationary geometry that will not move and the same transition parameters. You can lock individual points, edges, curves, faces or datums. For instance, you could move a point using a radius of influence of 50mm while locking down a point using a radius of influence of only 10mm. You can define one set of transition parameters for the moving geometry and one set for the locked geometry. Use the Stationary option to change the geometry to lock. The locking geometry can be a set of curves, edges, points or datum planes.
-
Minimize surface data
Use this option to reduce the number of control points used in the modified (i.e., morphed) surfaces. This option slows down the Morph command but dramatically reduces the control point density of the resultant surfaces. This reducing part size and makes the surfaces and shapes much quicker to modify with subsequent modeling operations.
-
Bend, Translate
Use this option to allow the morph transformation to be a straight translation or a bend.

Original orientation

Bend option
Adjoining edges retain the same relative angle from curve 1 to curve 2

Translate option
Adjoining edges simply translate to the new position; a straight transformation.
-
Influence (I)
Specify radius of influence. The smaller the number the more localized the change. A larger radius value will influence more of the part.
-
Rigid (R)
Specify radius for rigid motion.
-
Bulge (B)
Specify bulge factor for transition region.
-
Slope
Specify slope for transition region.
-
Flat/Peak
This determines whether the surfaces at the new point location are rounded (flat) or sharp (peak). This option is useful when you are dragging a point on the corner or edge of a part.
-
Stationary
(see
Move,
Lock above).
