Question Title Undo and Redo

Invoked byTool Bar > Icon (All Levels)

Undo RedoIf you make a mistake or change your mind, VX allows you to undo (Ctrl+Z) the last executed command.  If you change your mind about undoing a command you can redo (Ctrl+Y) it.  You can move back and forward through the undo/redo steps of your design.  Only a few viewing related functions are not logged as an undo redo step.

Undo/Redo During a Session

You can undo and redo commands during the active session by picking Undo or Redo from the Utility Tool Bar. Some functions are not logged as an undo/redo event such as panning, zooming, and other display oriented functions.

Undo/Redo During a Session

Maximum Undo/Redo

The maximum number of consecutive times undo/redo can be executed is defined in the VX Configuration Form.  The default is 20.
  • Pick Utilities > Configuration to display the form.

Undo/Redo After Saving Files

Undo/redo only occurs during the active session.  When a file is saved, the undo/redo history for the entire session is restarted.

VX Tips & Tricks The most important thing to remember is that you can undo/redo changes to a file during the active session before a file is saved.  Once a file is saved, the undo/redo history for the entire session (all files in the session) is deleted and begins again.

Notes

You can temporarily set the max Undo/Redo for the active session:

VX Tips & Tricks To temporarily set the max undo/redo for the active session.
You can use a command line function to temporarily change the maximum number of undo/redo steps that are logged during the active session only.

The syntax is "$NumUndo"

For example, to set the number of undo/redo steps to 100, in the text input field you would type "$NumUndo 100" (quotes excluded). This function will temporarily override the max undo/redo setting defined in the VX Configuration Form  for the active session only.
