Display Toggles
Display toggles are used to turn various elements of the display on or off. This topic contains a list of the available functions. Once a display toggle is set, it will remain active until it is toggled again. Some of these commands are available from
Tool Bars while others are selected from the
View Menu.
Toggle Perspective View (3D)
View > Perspective/Orthographic (Object/Part/Sketch Level)
A perspective display is one that alters that visual aspect of the part to make it appear to have more depth. This command is not logged as an undo/redo event. This display mode is set in addition to other modes such as wireframe or shaded.
Toggle Labels (3D)
View > Labels (Object/Part/Sketch Level)
As new entities are created, labels (similar to name tags) are generated. When label are toggled on, they are displayed as the cursor passes over and highlights and entity. This command is not logged as an undo/redo event.

The command-line command "!CdPartRelabel" can be used to assign new unique labels to the faces and edges of a part -- in the case that faces and edges are found to have identical labels. Typically, this situation should not arise, but may exist in older parts (e.g. version 5) that used the history "Encapsulate" command.. |
Toggle Display (3D)
View > Display (Object/Part/Sketch Level)
All redraws (from dynamic viewing, layer management, redraw command, etc.) are disabled when the display is toggled off. This command can be used while working with large models, when a single redraw may take a long time. This command is not logged as an undo/redo event.
Toggle Dimensions (Ctrl+D) (3D)
Tool Bar (Part/Sketch Level)
This command toggles the display of all dimensions (in the active part only). Other components in an assembly must be activated first and then this command applied.
Toggle External Datums (3D)
View (Part/Sketch/CAM Level)
This command toggles the display of datum planes that reside outside the active part (i.e., the components in an assembly). External datums are shown using dashed lines to reduce screen clutter.
Toggle Dynamic Preview (3D/2D)
View (Part/Sketch/Sheet/CAM Level)
This command toggles the display of the echo used to preview features. For some 3D block entities such as large point clouds and imported STL data, the dynamic preview echo can drag system performance considerably.
Toggle Drawing Border (2D)
View > Drawing Border (Sheet Level)
Turns the automatic drawing border on and off at the Drawing Sheet Level.
Toggle Attribute Tags (3D/2D)
Tool Bar (Part Level)
This command toggles the display of all part level attributes including fillet radius attributes tags and offset face attribute tags.
Toggle Grid (Ctrl+G) (2D)
Tool Bar (Sketch/Sheet Level)
This command toggles the display of the sketch/drawing sheet grid.
Toggle Line Limits (2D)
Tool Bar (Sketch/Sheet Level)
This command toggles the current line limits setting at the sketch and drawing sheet levels. While this icon is depressed, the current line limits are not active.
Toggle Construction Geometry (2D)
Tool Bar (Sketch/Sheet Level)
This command toggles the display of construction geometry at the sketch and drawing sheet levels. While this icon is turned on (depressed), all geometry created will be designated as construction geometry. At the sketch level, construction geometry is evaluated when the sketch is solved but is not considered part of the sketch profile. See also Toggle Curve Type.
Toggle Sketch Constraints (2D)
Tool Bar (Sketch Level)
This command toggles the display of all sketch constraint symbols.
Toggle Dimension Names
View > Dimension Names (Part/Sketch Level)
Use this toggle to temporarily change the display format of all dimensions between their values and their names. The names can be used to build
Equation Sets that drive other objects such as sketches and parts.
