Print (Ctrl+P)This command displays the Print Setup Form shown below.  Use it to select a printer and to configure your print for output.  There are various options on this form.  each are described below.

Forms and Dialogues Print Setup Form - Printer

  • Name
    Select from the available list of printers.  It can a printer connected directly to your computer or it can be located on a network.  As long as the printer is listed here, you can print to it.

  • Properties
    Displays the properties form for the selected printer.  This is installed with software supplied with your printer.
    • Under the Settings pulldown menu, you will find options to:
      • Save Current settings
      • Load Factory settings, etc.

  • Status, Type, Where
    Information about your selected printer.

  • Print to File
    Check this box to print to a file.  When you pick OK, the File Browser is displayed.  Select or enter a file name to print to.

  • Size
    Select from the list of paper sizes. Here is a sample list of paper sizes.

    Your actual list may be larger.

  • Source
    Select from the available paper sources for your printer.  Automatically Select will attempt to find the proper paper source for your print.

Select the desired paper orientation (Portrait or Landscape).

  • Use minimum margins
    Use this option to automatically determine the minimum amount for all paper margins.

  • Top, Bottom, Left, Right
    If Use minimum margins is not selected, enter the size of the paper margins in the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right input fields.  All values are in inches.
 
 

Forms and Dialogues Print Setup Form - Print Size

  • Print sheet
    At the Drawing Sheet level use this to print the active sheet.

  • Print display
    Use this to print only what is currently displayed on your screen (i.e., what you can see).

  • Scale to fit
    Check this box to automatically fit the entire print area on the paper, regardless of scale.

  • Scale
    If Print display is selected, enter the print scale.  Be sure to select a scale that will allow the entire display to fit on the selected paper.
 
 

Forms and Dialogues Print Setup Form - Other Options

  • Number of copies
    If you want to print more than one copy, enter the number here.

  • Print background
    For shaded displays, check this box if you want to print the current background.

  • Color
    Select Color or Greyscale

  • Preview
    Displays a preview of the print based on the current setup. This preview assumes that your printer controls are set properly and that the correct paper is loaded.

  • OK
    When you are ready to print, select OK to begin.

  • Cancel
    If you change your mind and don’t want to print, select the Cancel button.
