Question Title Part Annotation Balloon (3D)
Part Annotation Balloon (3D)This command creates a part annotation text or image balloon at a selected point.  The Required Inputs only include the text string or image file and the location point.  See below for all Optional Inputs.

Required Inputs Required Inputs

  • Text Balloon Method
    Text Balloon MethodSelect the method to create an annotation balloon that contains a text string.

  • Image Balloon Method
    Image Balloon MethodSelect the method to create an annotation balloon that contains an image.

  • Text/File name
    For text balloons enter the annotation text string.  For image balloons use the File Browser to locate and select your image file. 

  • Point
    Select a 3D point to locate the balloon leader.

  • Lock to screen
    Check this box to lock the balloon to its current screen position.

  • Keep balloon on top
    Check this box to ensure that the balloon is always on top of the graphics even when dynamically rotating the view.

  • Position
    Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension.

Upper Right
Locate the balloon above and to the right of the leader point.

Upper Left
Locate the balloon above and to the left of the leader point.

Lower Right
Locate the balloon below and to the right of the leader point.

Lower Left
Locate the balloon below and to the left of the leader point.

  • Font
    Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension.

    • Color
      Select a font for the balloon text.

    • Height
      Specify height of the balloon text.

  • Display leader
    Check this box to display the balloon leader.  If you choose not to display the leader, the Position (see above) is defined by one of the four corners of the balloon box (i.e., the upper right, upper left, lower right or lower left corner is located on the Position point).

    • Type
      Select the type of leader from the following options:

Balloon Leader
Balloon Leader

Line Leader
Line Leader


    • Length
      Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension.

  • Display background
    Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension for optional displaying on a 2D sheet.

  • Display outline
    Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension.

  • Thickness
    Select a point to locate the dimension text. This 3rd point also defines the default plane for the dimension.

  • Width/Height
    For image balloons, enter the desired width and height of the image. 

  • Lock aspect ratio
    For image balloons, check this box to maintain the Height/Width aspect ration of the original image.

  • Embed texture file
    For image balloons, check this box to embed the image file into the active part.  This will allow the feature to be regenerated if the original image file is lost.
