Question Title Trim Shapes

Edit > Shapes
Shape Tooltab

Trim Shapes Input Options Trim ShapesUse this command to trim away part of a solid or open shape where it intersects with faces, shapes, and/or datum planes. This command can trim an open shape and will result in an open shape. This command is similar to the Combine Shapes (see above) command  but allows you to select multiple faces, shapes, or datum planes (they can be self-intersecting) to trim to. The resulting solid or shape is automatically cleaned up.

  • Flip side (S) keep
The arrows indicate the side to keep. Check this box to flip the arrows and keep the opposite side
    .

  • Keep trimming (T) shapes
Check this box to keep the trimming shapes.  See Required Inputs above.

  • Trim with all simultaneously
Use this option to specify that the trim operations be performed consecutively (in order) or simultaneously. This option will have a different effect on some self-intersecting faces.

  • Cap trimmed region
With this option you can decide if the resulting shape is capped at the trimmed edges (i.e., closed shape) or uncapped (i.e., open shape).  If checked, the capping surfaces will be inherited from the Trimming T geometry.  Refer to the illustration above.

  • Extend trimming faces
The Cutting geometry MUST extend past the Base geometry.  If it doesn’t, use this option to extend it.  This option only applies if surfaces are used as the Cutting geometry.
