Question Title Punch Shape

Insert > Features (Part Level)

Punch ShapeUse this command to perform a punch operation between two shapes (solids or open shapes). In a progressive die sheet metal application, this command can be used to create the resulting punch area. However, the command can be used for any application to create a shelled feature.

A thickness is added to the outer side of the punch shape. This thickness represents the shell offset. Care should be taken in concave corners where fillets are applied. The recommended fillet radius in these areas should be larger than the thickness value.

The required inputs include the base shape, punch shape, the boundary faces where the punch shape emerges and the material thickness in the punch area. Refer to the illustration below.

This illustrates the Punch Shape command used in a progressive die sheet metal application. In this case, the thickness of the punch shape will equal the thickness of the base shape. However, the thickness can be any value you choose.
