Quick DrawUse this command to draw a variety of geometry types without changing commands. You can specify multiple line or curve segments to be connected or tangent by selecting the appropriate symbol. You can draw lines, tangent arcs, 3 point arcs, radius arcs, circles, and curves.

Quick Draw Lines

  1. Select the first point to draw from.

Notice that the two symbols (C0) and (Tangent) are displayed next to the selected point. These symbols indicate the tangency condition at this point. The symbol in the green box is currently active.By default the (C0) tangency condition is active. Selecting the first point again will toggle the active tangency condition.

  2. With the (C0) tangency condition active, select another point to draw a line or additional points to draw a series of connected line segments.

You can activate the (C0) tangency condition anytime to draw lines from the last point selected.

  3. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw.

Quick Draw Tangent Arcs

  1. Select the first point to draw from.

Notice that the two symbols (C0) and (Tangent) are displayed next to the selected point. These symbols indicate the tangency condition at this point. The symbol in the green box is currently active. By default the (C0) tangency condition is active. Selecting the first point again will toggle the active tangency condition.

  2. Select the first point again to toggle the active tangency condition to (Tangent).

  3. Select the endpoint of the arc. It will remain tangent to the first point.

You can activate the (Tangent) condition anytime to draw a connected arc that is tangent to the previous segment.

  4. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw.

Quick Draw 3 Point Arcs

  2. With the (C0) tangency condition active press and hold the Alt key and select the endpoint of the 3 point arc.

  3. Select the midpoint of the arc.

You can activate the (C0) tangency condition anytime to draw a connected 3 point arc from the last point selected.

  4. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw.

Quick Draw Radius Arcs

  2. With the (C0) tangency condition active press and hold the Alt key and select the endpoint of the arc.

  3. Quick Draw Radius ArcsSelect a through point or enter the arc radius.

There is a choice of four possible arcs.

  4. Highlight and select the appropriate arc.

You can activate the (C0) tangency condition anytime to draw a radius arc from the last point selected.

  5. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw.

Quick Draw Circles

  1. Quick Draw CirclesPress and hold the Alt key and select the center of the circle.

  2. Enter the radius of the circle or pick a point on the diameter of the circle.

  3. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw

  4. Enter the radius of the circle or pick a point on the diameter of the circle.

Quick Draw Curve Through Points

With the (C0) tangency condition active press and hold the Alt key and select the second and third points on the curve.

  2. Continue selecting points on the curve. You don’t need to press the Alt key after the third point.

Notice that as you select additional points on the curve its end (the first point) is allowed to move freely. You can place a tangency constraint on the end of the curve by activating the (Tangent) condition at the first point. You can define the first point of the curve anytime to draw a connected curve segment.

  3. Middle-click when you want to terminate Quick Draw.

NotesNotes

  1. In (Tangent) mode a line is automatically created if the next point is a linear extension of the last point.

  2. You use the Input Options Menu (right-click) to further constrain the selection of any point.
