Flag Hole Feature |
Utilities > Flag Hole Feature (Part Level)
Use this command to assign hole attributes to a hole shaped region created by a non-hole feature such as imported geometry, a Boolean remove, a cylinder or a revolved notch. After using this command the region is treated as a hole feature. It will have a centerline, threads, and centermark in a drawing sheet and will be added to any future hole tables.
By selecting the base face and a face on the diameter, this command can detect simple, tapered, counter-bore and counter-sunk holes, blind (with or without tip) and through holes.
When this command is selected, all hole features and previously flagged holes appear with center lines displayed. This lets you know where hole geometry may still need to be flagged using this command. Do not flag existing holes created with the
Hole Feature
command.
Required Inputs
-
Face
Select the base face for the hole feature. This is the face that the holes protrude from. The base feature of this face will be reassigned to the new hole feature.
-
Hole
Select cylindrical faces from one or more hole-shaped regions or middle-click to let VX find all available holes. All connected faces will be detected and flagged as a single hole feature.
Optional Inputs (Thread Tab)
-
Threads
Use these options to specify thread attributes. You can use them to display cosmetic threads in layout views if the Show threads option is checked on the View Attributes Form or on the options forms for the various layout view creation commands.
Type
Select the thread type from the drop down list. No Thread, Custom, M, UNC and UNF are supported.
Diameter
If Type = Custom, then enter the thread diameter here.
Pitch and Thrds/Unit
For all but Custom, the Pitch or Threads/Unit is supplied as the Diameter changes. Custom allows you to set all parameters.
Depth
Specify the hole depth for all holes in the feature.
Optional Inputs (Tolerance Tab)
Use these options to specify hole tolerance attributes.
-
Add D1 tolerance
Check this box to use tolerance attributes.
-
Upper limit (+)
The positive max. tolerance value (e.g., for +0.005, enter 0.005 here).
-
Lower limit (-)
Negative max. tolerance value (e.g., for -0.005, enter 0.005 here)
Optional Inputs (General Tab)
-
Callout label
Any text string that you want to appear as the hole callout.
-
Do not machine
Holes flagged with this attribute are ignored in VX CAM. For example, a plate loaded from a catalogue has holes that already exist -- VX CAM will not machine them.
