Question Title Using Heal Options During Import
VX will attempt to heal data contained within certain types of import files.  To enable these options select File > Import > Set Options during the import.  If you do experience difficulty with imported data, here is a good procedure to follow for each known import source (i.e., sending CAD system).
  1. First, import the file with None selected.

  2. Pay close attention to the Translator Progress Window.  It will alert you to entities that may be corrupt or missing during the import.

  3. Then, visually inspect the imported part in VX using Dynamic Rotate and the various Analyze Surface display modes.

  4. If the part looks good and there are no errors during import, no further steps are needed.  Go to step 10.

  5. If you encounter error messages, see geometry that looks unusual or missing, try importing the part using the Lite option.  This option will catch many of the more common problems.

  6. Repeat steps 2 through 4.  If acceptable, go to step 10.

  7. If you still encounter problems, try using the Full option.  This option will catch as many problems as VX can during the import.

  8. Again, repeat steps 2 through 4.  If acceptable, go to step 10.

  9. If you still encounter problems, go to the VX Healing tooltab and try some of the more specific healing tools available.

  10. When the import is acceptable, take special note of the settings on this form, any additional healing commands you used from the Healing tooltab and keep a record.  That way, when you encounter a file from the same source, you know exactly what to do.

  11. If the import is still not acceptable, contact the person who created the file and ask them if there are any additional options they can try from the sending CAD system.  Then repeat this procedure.
